If your nonprofit is looking to jumpstart or refresh an approach to grantseeking, these workshops are for you!
Grants in King County and in WA State as a whole are changing rapidly, as donors and nonprofits adjust to a more volatile and punitive economy.
At Happy Time, you can learn with Ali Marcus, who has coached and trained grantwriters for 12 years, and taught workshops across the state. She brings deep experience working in all manner of fundraising and strategic planning, facilitating board discussions and retreats, as well as serving on boards.
Moreover, she is a serial small business entrepreneur and lifelong professional artist who has lived and breathed your experience as a creative person who has stumbled into the world of fundraising, nonprofits, business, and administration out of necessity. She knows - you can learn how to thrive here!
Sign up for workshops a la carte, or choose the discounted option for the whole series of four workshops. As with all Happy Time workshops, these groups are kept small and designed to foster personal connections among the attendees. All workshops are in person only.
Each workshop meets on a Thursday from 11am-12:30pm. The first 15 minutes are meet-and-greet, and the workshop is 75 minutes long.
Individual workshop fee: $75 per person (select the workshop of your choice to purchase)
Full series fee (for all four days): $250 per person (no longer available)
April 3 - Where Should I Focus My Time? (no longer available)
A successful grantwriter spends about 30% of their time writing grants. Yes, you read that right! In this workshop, learn how to assess your organization’s needs, and what types of activities to focus on in order to boost your grant revenue in the future. You might be surprised at how much there is to do before it’s time to actually write the grant.
April 10 - Data is My Friend?
While it’s easy to feel like data-centric approaches can suck the life out of your job, there are plenty of measurements you should be taking as a grant writer. Some are more helpful than others; join this workshop to find out what is the best fit for you and your circumstances.
May 8 - Effective Grant Research
Your time is valuable and no doubt limited. And yet, you’re wondering how to expand your prospect list, since it’s been a few years? In this workshop, learn ways to update your grant prospect list that are effective and practical for your needs.
May 15 - Writing that Stands Out
How do you deal with character limits? Should you write in a detached, objective voice or should you be casual and warm? Can you copy and paste answers from one grant proposal to another? Explore these questions and more in this workshop, which is all about how to present your case in its best light.
